In the past I have written about my training and practice with art as therapy. On a personal note, I must tell you about my passion for playing the piano, and the effect it has on me and my own family.
Music has always been an important part of my life. The format was not important, just the joy of playing records, playing instruments, or just singing out loud.
I am trained as a pianist. In college I played in clubs and lounges to support myself and pay for books. What a joy to be able to express myself, entertain others, and also earn a buck.
At home my piano is the focal point of the living area. Even more prominent than the television. What a wonderful feeling to have friends and family gather round and belt out tunes together. It is like a party, a concert, karaoke, Ozzie and Harriet, and America’s Funniest Videos all in one.
